A fascinating journey to the enchanted land of original and ancient Finno-Ugric peoples-Erzi and Mokshi. You will vsit two unique and very different villages, where you will get acquainted with the most interesting ethnographic features, learn the similarities and differences in the way of life, language, beliefs, deities, costumes and cuisine of Erzi and Moksha. You will learn how two unique superethnos United into one people and why this people became known as the Mordvins.
Tour program:
First day:
- Arrival in Saransk. Meeting with a tour guide.
- Sightseeing tour of the city Saransk. A tour of the historical part of the city will introduce you to the main sights of the capital of the Republic of Mordovia:
◆ Millennium square of unity of the Mordovian people with the peoples of the Russian state: Fountain “Star of Mordovia”; Pushkin national library; Ogarev Moscow state University; Yaushev State musical theater.
◆ Cathedral square: visit to the Cathedral of the Holy righteous warrior F. Ushakov; Monument to Admiral F. F. Ushakov; Sculpture group "Family", Monument to Patriarch Nikon.
◆ Victory square: Memorial Museum of military and labor feat; memorial sign “Escape from hell”; monument to soldiers-internationalists, monument to soldiers-natives of Mordovia who fell during the Second World war, Alexander Nevsky chapel.
◆ Sovetskaya square: buildings Of the house of the Republic; Houses of Soviets; Administration of Saransk; monument to V. I. Lenin; monument to A. S. Pushkin; monument to the founders of the city.
◆ Pushkin Park of culture and recreation, Monument “Forever with Russia”.
- Moving to the village of Staraya Terizmorga.
- Visit to the center of national culture of the Moksha people. This unique ethnographic center was founded by personal decree of Vladimir Putin, and in 2007 it hosted the international festival of Finno- Ugric culture. A fascinating introduction to the life, traditions and customs of Mordovia-Moksha begins with a heartfelt and bright meeting of the folklore group in luxurious national costumes. Ah, how beautiful are the songs in the melodic Mordovian language! No wonder they say “one Mordvin is a song, and two Mordvin is a chorus!”. Bright costumes, folk Moksha tunes, jokes, sayings and sayings, dancing and playful games-a spectacular original holiday! In the open-air Museum “Peasant manor” you will get acquainted with traditional crafts, occupations and life of Mordvins-Moksha. You will visit a well-to-do Mordovian hut, see unique household items of the Moksha people and admire the original multi-layered costume of Mordovia, decorated with rich embroidery, coins, beads and shells.

Second day:
- Breakfast at the hotel. Check out of the hotel with your belongings.
- Meeting with the guide in the hotel lobby. Departure for the excursion program with things.
- Excursion to the Makarovsky John the Theologian monastery – this is one of the most unusual monasteries in Russia. The uniqueness of the monastery is that it appeared in place of the Makarovsky Pogost - the former estate of associate of Peter the First, podyachev and "standard bearer" of the Order of the Kazan Palace Makar A. Polanski. Conceived Makar Polyansky the graveyard simultaneously performs three functions – fortress, the sanctuary and the "solid" item. The Cathedral of St. John the theologian, built in 1704, and the bell tower, built in 1720, have survived to our time! Contemporaries said that even the fortress of Saransk "paled" before the greatness and power of the Makarovsky churchyard and estate. From the old manor buildings preserved and wooden household services, and in the restored manor "castle" Polyansky now located Diocesan administration. You will admire the harmonious ensemble of the vast, picturesque, well-maintained monastery, surrounded by greenery and flowers, visit the impressive temples and miracle-working springs, and be able to worship the shrines of the monastery, including the miraculous image of the "inexhaustible Cup" and the ARKS with the relics of the Kiev-Pechersk saints.
- Lunch in the refectory of the monastery.
- Moving to the village of Podlesnaya Tavla, on a visit to the Mordovian people of Erzya. The tiny village of Podlesnaya Tavla, lost in the picturesque expanses of endless fields and woods-the center of the world-famous Erzya wood carving. Here live the best Mordovian wood carvers, and “business card” Podlesnoy Tavly-colorful tavly wooden toy, each figure of which has its own "face" and character!
- Ethnographic program in the unique Museum “Etno-Kudo” named after Romashkin.You will walk through the real village of Erzya and learn how the representatives of the ancient people live now. Get acquainted with the history of the Foundation of the Museum “Ethno-Kudo” and the biography of its founder-a keen enthusiast, folklorist, musician and collector of Erzya culture, Vladimir Ivanovich Romashkin. Every visit to the Museum keeps it and turns it into a real national holiday-bright and original! You will become participants of a unique meeting ceremony (in Erzya – “Kudat”) with bread and salt, get acquainted with the Mordovian epic "Mastorava", learn about the traditions of the Mordovian wedding, hear national Mordovian songs and even take part in a master class of Erzya wood carving from local masters! Gastronomic and delicious surprise of the trip – tea party with especially lush and" thick “Mordovian pancakes” pachat “ with jam, sour cream, honey!
